Whilst I’m based in Norfolk, I also work with clients across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.

What does the recruitment process look like?

I want to do a great job for my clients and my candidates. That’s why the process I follow here at Holdich Recruitment will probably look a bit different to other agencies. A bit more thorough. It’s important for candidates because it will help me find them the perfect job. And it’s important for my clients because I won’t waste their time by sending unsuitable candidates for interview.

When a candidate approaches me about a position they’re interested in, here are the steps I follow:

Step 1: Initial assessment

I look at the candidate’s background in depth to see if they might be suitable for the position.

Step 2: Phone call

We’ll discuss the opportunity applied for in more detail. If we both feel this is a good fit, we’ll arrange a Skype video appointment.

Step 3: Skype call

A more detailed discussion about background, motivations, reasons for seeking a new role, culture and fit of organisations they have worked for, successes, strengths, weaknesses. We’ll then go on to discuss the client I am recruiting for, their culture, their strengths, weaknesses, future development and growth. Finally, we’ll talk money. Only after all that can we ascertain whether that candidate really is suitable for the role or not.

Step 4: Shortlisting

I’ll send a short list of carefully selected candidates to the client. By this stage, I know they’ll be a good fit. So all that’s left is for the client to select for the role following interview.

Step 5: Interview preparation

I will prepare the candidate before the interview, making sure they have details of all the requirements of the role, company information, who will be taking the interviews, and an understanding of what type of interviews they are likely to have.

Step 6: The debrief

Following the interview, I’ll have a full debrief with both the candidate and the client.

Step 7: Second interviews

If this stage is needed, I’ll help prepare the candidate in the same way.

Step 8: Success?

If the candidate is offered the position, we will help get a positive outcome for both parties. If the candidate is unsuccessful this time, we will speak directly to them with constructive and honest feedback which will help them in the future.
